A number of BGS Families made the trip to Wakefield to be given a short tour round the new Hepworth Gallery. The gallery brings together work from Wakefield’s art collection, exhibitions by contemporary artists and rarely seen works by Barbara Hepworth.

With a café, shop, learning studios, and exciting events programme, the gallery is a place to explore art, architecture and your imagination. The meeting in the Cafe was a means to check the catering - it was good!

The work was a mixture of sculptural as well as wall based art.

The special show of Richard Long's work inspired some sketches from a younger visitor, and there were some activities for creative use of pipe cleaners to take part in.

As the visit was a clash with the Olympic Torch Tour for some people, it is likely that the BGS Art Forum will return for another visit ...

Why not get hold of some art supplies from the Art Forum stock cupboard (through Mrs Horsfield) so you can have a place to keep allyour art ideas over the summer holiday.

Having the right paper can mean a lot a lot when it comes to shading and the pencil mark. It is better to have art paper than office or copy paper that are meant to be used for printing things.
